Draw No Bet in Football Betting: What it is and how to use it

Draw No Bet (DNB) is a popular betting market offered by sports betting companies that allows you to wager on the outcome of a football match without the draw result. In other words, you can bet on either Team A to win or Team B to win, and if the match ends in a draw, your stake is refunded.

This makes DNB a safe albeit less lucrative option for football bettors who like taking a chance on an underdog but want the safety of getting their money back if it’s a draw.

How does it work?

Let’s say you place a DNB bet on Team A to win at odds of 2.00. If Team A wins, you win your bet and collect your winnings (your stake multiplied by the odds). If the match ends in a draw, your stake is refunded (push). However, if Team B wins, you lose your bet.

Here is an example:

  • Match: Manchester United vs Liverpool

DNB Odds:

  • Manchester United to win: 2.00
  • Liverpool to win: 2.20

You place a ₦100 DNB bet on Manchester United to win. If Manchester United win, you win ₦200 (your stake of ₦100 multiplied by the odds of 2.00). You get your ₦100 stake back if the match ends in a draw. If Liverpool win, you lose your ₦100 stake.

Draw No Bets are similar to “Double Chance” bets but have one key difference. With Draw No Bet, you get your money back if the game ends in a draw. With “Double Chance”, you win if either your chosen team wins or the game ends in a draw, but the odds are usually lower because it covers more options.

Why bet on Draw No Bet?

There are a number of reasons why you might choose to bet on Draw No Bet:

  • To avoid the risk of losing your bet on a draw: This is the main advantage of DNB betting. If you are unsure of the outcome of a match but think one team is more likely to win than the other, then a DNB bet can be a good option.
  • To hedge your bets: If you have already placed a bet on a match outcome, you can use a DNB bet to hedge your bets and reduce your potential losses.

Things to consider before betting on Draw No Bet:

  • The odds for DNB bets are usually lower than the odds for straight win bets: This is because the bookmaker is taking into account the possibility of a draw.
  • DNB bets do not cover extra time or penalties: If you bet Nigeria on the draw no bet market in the Africa Nations Cup final against Ivory Coast and it goes to extra time tied 1-1, your bet will push, and your stake will be refunded, even if Nigeria win on PKs.
